Central Bank Of Kenya Governor Refuses To Meet Raila

Central Bank Governor Patrick Kamau Njoroge has refused to meet with CORD leader Raila Odinga.

The CBK Governor had been asked by the opposition leader to meet him to discuss the KES 400 billion Eurobond and the use of the controversial KES 250 billion that had allegedly been misappropriated.

But the CBK Governor says that he has nothing to tell the CORD leader as the relevant details of the transactions are available at Treasury.

” The details are found at treasury. That can be accessed upon request,” he told News24.

The CORD leader has for the last 6 months pushed forward claims that the funds have been misused by the government.

A recent report stated that KES 120 billion from the Eurobond had been used to clear debts accrued by the previous government.

Treasury CS Henry Rotich told a Parliamentary Committee that the funds use had been necessary because the debts were due to be serviced.

Treasury has always refused reports that the bond had been misused by the government saying that they have been invested in infrastructure projects.
