The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State has called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) to immediately arrest and prosecute the 57 Executive Secretaries currently running the affairs of local governments in Lagos State.
The party in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Taofik Gani, said the Executive Secretaries are presently treasonable felons by virtue of taking over the control of parts of the country contrary to section 7, of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) which guarantees only democratically elected local councils.
The party said the executive secretaries are illegal and unconstitutional and therefore aberration which ought not to be condoned by any serious minded constitutional government and its law enforcement agencies.
According to the PDP, the emergence of the aberration is worsened by the incompetence, totalitarianism and corruption being perpetrated by the Executive secretaries whilst Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is hypocritically silent.
The party said the executive secretaries are not honestly reimbursing their internally generated revenues and as such depriving the people meaningful developments at that level.
