Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has distanced itself from the attempted bombing of President Robert Mugabe’s Gushungo dairy farm in Mazowe, near Harare, said a report on Thursday.
According to New Zimbabwe, the leading investigator Superintendent Nyambo Viera indicated that one of the army bosses, Major Mashava, had denied ever issuing instructions to bomb Mugabe’s dairy farm.
In February, One of the suspects, a “military spy”, Borman Ngwenya, claimed that the failed bombing of Alpha and Omega dairy farm was a military operation.
Ngwenya told the court that he often informed his military bosses about the operations.
Ngwenya was one of four men who were arrested on charges of plotting to bomb Mugabe’s dairy farm outside Harare in January.
Reports claimed that the four men were members of a “fringe political party” called the Zimbabwe People’s Front (ZPF).
The leader of the party, Owen Kuchata, pleaded guilty to the charges and was slapped with a nine-year jail sentence.
