More and more Kenyans are racing against time to beat the voter registration deadline set for Tuesday, reports Capital FM.

Speaking to an artisan, James Mugo at a registration centre he said he has been focusing on his job.

A complacent student, Ruth Mwikali said she decided to vote last minute because she was concerned about voting someone into power who did have regard for who she was.

According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission said they wish to target at least 4 million voters.

Despite the target the commission expects only to register quarter of the 4 million voters.

For voters who miss the registration deadline on Tuesday residents can still register at the regional and constituency offices.

Meanwhile students from Kaimosi Friends University College boycotted classes due to attacks from local when they were registering in their region.

According to locals they are accusing the students of being bribed by politicians.

However University Principal, Prof. Jack Nandi however rejected allegations saying that attacks were not linked to voter registration.

“The students are not going to their hostels earlier enough and that may pose a risk to them during late hours by being attacked by certain individuals,” he said.

Elections have been set for August 8, 2017.
