Lagos – Two South African children have filed a suit against the founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Pastor Temitope Joshua over the death of their father in the September 2014 building collapse in his church.
The two minors, Bulungu Malaika Wa Kalambaie (three years) and Nora Furah Wa Kalambaie (six years) have approached a Lagos High Court, Igbosere asking for an order directing Prophet Joshua to pay them the sum of R8 772 000.00 (N114 765 587.00) as cost and damages for the death of their father.
The claimants’ filed the suit through their mother, Amina Busseh Bashi, a citizen of Democratic Republic of Congo.
In their statement of claim filed by their lawyer, Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), they prayed the court to order Joshua, registered trustees of Synagogue Church Of All Nations, Jadny Trust Limited, Hardrock Construction & Engineering Company and two engineers, Oladele Ogundeji and Akinbela Fatiregun to pay them additional R10 000 000 as damages for the loss of earnings and support suffered from the death of their father.
They also asked the court to direct the defendants to pay them N30 million being the legal cost and solicitor’s fee incurred by the claimants in prosecuting the action.
TB Joshua and the co-defendants are currently facing charges of involuntary manslaughter before an Ikeja High Court.
Joined in the suit are – Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice and the state Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
The building collapsed on September 12, 2014, killing over a hundred people, mostly South Africans.
