Kampala – Authorities in Uganda have refuted allegations that President Museveni’s campaign team is recruiting people from the neighbouring Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo to vote for Museveni in the forthcoming elections.
Uganda’s Prime Minister, Ruhakana Rugunda has come out to vehemently rubbish reports raised by opposition that Uganda has ferried foreigners from Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan into the country with the main purpose of voting for the incumbent Yoweri Museveni.
Rugunda, while addressing the press in Kampala said: “It is not true that the Government is ferrying foreigners to vote for President Museveni. Museveni has enough supporters to grant him victory in the coming election.”
On Tuesday, the Go Forward presidential candidate, Amama Mbabazi said that plans by the ruling party NRM to use foreign voters had been completed.
Senior NRM cadre, Richard Mawa said that Mbabazi and other opposition members were making such unfounded claims after smelling defeat.
