Nigeria: Appeal Court To Deliver Judgment On Saraki’s CCT Trial Today

The Court of Appeal in Abuja will today (Thursday) deliver judgment in the appeal filed by Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, challenging his trial on charges bordering on assets declaration breaches before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Punch reports.

The Justice Abdul Aboki-led panel of the appeal court had on October 6 heard the appeal challenging the jurisdiction of the CCT, and reserved for judgment.

The hearing notice for the judgment was served on parties to the appeal late on Wednesday.

The five-man panel is already seated set to deliver the judgment.

This will be the second time the appeal court will be delivering judgment on the same subject of jurisdiction to try the Senate President.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja had reserved judgment in an appeal Saraki lodged against his trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT according to News24.

A five-man panel of Justices of the appellate court led by Justice Abdul Aboki, okayed judgement on the appeal marked CA/A/172c/2016, after it heard arguments from Saraki’s lawyer, Kanu Agabi, SAN, and counsel to the Federal Government, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN.

Saraki had gone before the appellate court to query the legal propriety of the 16-count criminal charge the federal government entered against him before the CCT.
