The national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has made a call for former President Goodluck Jonathan to address the controversial $2.1 billion arms deal, Punch has reported.
The PDP said that the uproar caused by the deal should have caught the eye of the former president by now and that the scandal has brought shame to the former ruling party.
Alhaji Abdulahi Jalo, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, said on Monday that the former president should speak out and inform the public whether he authorised the sharing of funds meant to aid in the fight against insurgency.
Jalo also insisted that all those who benefited from the funds be made to pay the money back to the State.
Prominent members of the PDP who have been implicated in the scandal include former Rivers State Governor Peter Odili, former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa, Aliyu Shinkafi and former Information Minister Chief Jim Nwobodo, among several others.
In addition, Jalo challenged any beneficiaries of funds distributed by former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki to explain to the PDP how the money
