Award-winning Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo has refuted claims that he is broke.
This came a day after he jokingly put up his newly-acquired expensive ride for sale through a tweet posted on his account on Tuesday, April 14.
The singer in his tweet insinuated he was not fine while in Ivory Coast where he had been locked up due to worldwide lockdowns and was willing to give his Land Cruiser V8 to anyone who would send him money.
Kenzo made the plea just hours after Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni announced extension of a countrywide lockdown by another 21 days.
”I was watching president adding more 21 days. Who can send me (money via) Western Union? I will give him my car, otherwise I am not okay,” he tweeted.
His tweet made many people believe he was broke and was about to sell his KSh 5 million ride to get money to survive.
The singer came out a day later and through the same platform, said he was only joking and wanted to attracts attention.
“Yesterday I was joking bambi. I am not happy to be on a foreign land because I spend a lot but I am not doing that bad to sell my car, it was a joke,” he tweeted on Wednesday, April 15.
