Uganda: Doctors Ordered To Return To Work Or Lose Jobs

Government has ordered doctors to return to work or risk losing their jobs.

Doctors went on strike this week in a bid to push government  to increase their salaries and improve their working conditions.

Health minister Dr. Jen Ruth Acen has since dismissed the strike as illegal

“To all health workers in Uganda and the general public, all medical workers who were misled to join the strike must resume work with immediate effect and those who adhere to this directive shall not be subjected to any disciplinary action.” She said

She added that those who would return to work will be protected by the government.

She also cautioned interns that if they continued with the strike, they will be cut off the program.
