Tanzanian Bongo star Diamond Platnumz was left counting losses in the wake of his first Wasafi Festival held in Mtwara on Saturday night after his chain was snatched.
The singer was mobbed by a huge crowd during the event and one fan managed to snatch his gold and diamond chains worth Sh1.8 million as he interacted with the crowd.
Diamond confessed that he had bought the chains while in the US and even though he was aware a crowd would mob him in the event, he thought the chains were strong enough and couldn’t be pulled off his neck.
“Zile zilikuwa white gold na diamond nilinunua Marekani. Sikumbuki lakini hazishuki million arubanne. Nilijua haziwezi kung’oka, alivyotokea mtu ghafla akazipull nilipatwa na shock,” he said in a radio interview.
On social media, the singer confessed he was left with deep thoughts after losing them.
“This is what they refer to as not believing what you see. If you look at me keenly just after being robbed I was deep in thought. I think I wanted to cry,” he said.
Diamond added that losing the chains didn’t bother him much since he believes he has gifted the fan and God will provide more for him.
“Lakini mwenyezi Mungu ndio anapanga kila kitu na wakati mwingine labda mungu alitaka nitoe viwe sadaka na kwa support walonipa ina dhamani kubwa kuliko zile vitu na vinazo zingine kibao. Mi naona ni freshi tu kama baraka yake, zawadi yake,” he said
