Wasafi records’ new hit ‘Mwanza’ by Rayvanny featuring Diamond Platnumz has been banned in Tanzania.
Diamond and Rayvanny released the banger on November 10 only for it to be banned two days later by BASATA because of vulgar lyrics.
“Wimbo ‘MWANZA’ wa Wasanii @Rayvanny aliomshirikisha @DiamondPlatnumz umefungiwa na Baraza la Sanaa Tanzania (BASATA) kupigwa mahali Popote kwa sababu za kuwa Unahamasisha Masuala yasiyofaa” a statement from the body reads.
Despite the radio and TV ban, the song has already pulled over a million views on YouTube.
It’s not also the first song from Wasafi Records that has been banned in the country.
Two other tracks from Diamond have been declared illegal in the country; Halleluyah featuring Morgan Heritage and Waka Waka featuring Rick Ross because of the same reason.
The latest release has skewed lyrics that BASATA stated have deeper meaning. The authority believes Diamond used the song to promote homosexuality among the youth.
