Star Wars Premiere: John Boyega Reps Africa In Agbada

For the European premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Nigerian-British actor John Boyega was garbed in a Nigerian traditional dress.

The 27-year-old actor on Wednesday evening joined his co-stars in London for the premiere of the latest instalment in the inter-galactical series.

Boyega whose full name is John Adedayo B. Adegboyega graced the event in a blue Agbada and fila, a wide-sleeved attire traditionally worn by men in Nigeria.

In an Instagram post, Boyega said that he had an amazing time:

“Had an amazing time at the London premiere for Star Wars! Last leg of the tour! Couldn’t be more grateful for such an amazing opportunity.”

Boyega was joined at the star-studded event by members of his family, who were dressed in matching garments.

In the Star Wars series, Boyega portrayed Stormtrooper-turned-rebel Finn.

Boyega rose to prominence in his native United Kingdom for his role as Moses in the 2011 sci-fi comedy film Attack the Block.

Boyega’s other credits include historical drama film Detroit (2017), the science fiction film Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018), four episodes of the television series 24: Live Another Day and the drama Imperial Dreams (2014). Boyega received the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2016.
