President Salva Kiir and Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn are scheduled to sign agreements on security cooperation, roads, and border control in Addis Ababa on Friday, a spokesman for South Sudan’s presidency said.

President travelled to the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa on Thursday for a two-day official visit.

He pointed out that the two leaders would also sign a number of bilateral cooperation agreements on electricity, roads, border control and security in line with a previous memorandum of understanding signed last year.

Ateny, who is also the presidential press secretary, said the security deal aims to stop hosting rebel groups in the two countries.

In October last year, President Kiir and Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn signed a deal on bilateral trade, borders and military cooperation.
