South African actress and philanthropist Charlize Theron will be awarded at the twenty-third Hollywood Film Awards on Sunday.
It was announced on Tuesday that the forty-four-year-old will receive a Hollywood Career Achievement award at the prestigious event.
The star has garnered rave reviews for her performance in Bombshell , which was directed by Jay Roach.
The film details the sexual assault scandal that was headlining grabbing news a few years ago. Margot Robbie and Nicole Kidman also make star turns in the dramatic Oscar hopeful about media mogul Roger Ailes.
Charlize was born in Benoni, in Gauteng and left South Africa to find great success in Tinsel Town with a slew of career-defining roles in films like Monster and The Devil’s Advocate.
The mother of two founded The Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP) in 2007. The organisation invests in African youth. The programme was created by the Academy Award winner, with the hope of making a difference in the fight against HIV in South Africa.
