This Is Sam Okyere, The Most Famous African National In South Korea!!

Sam Okyere is a Ghanaian who has been living in South Korea since 2009. He was admitted to the Korean government scholarship program in 2009 and moved to Korea for his studies.

Since then he has become a true personality of Korean television and has been awarded at the 8th Korea Drama Awards for his role in the television series Warm and Cozy .

But his South Korean dream is sometimes darkened by the reality of racism that he also faces daily. He evokes it in the show  As You Say :  “One day in the subway, I was going to sit at a free place, but an older woman hurried to steal the place and said, “What is a black man doing in Korea?” Go back to your country. “What most hurt me is that the other Koreans around have sat looking at nothing. I wondered if the Koreans were always content to look at the strangers without helping them when they are experiencing difficult times. “
