Ruto Snubs KANU Talks

Deputy President William Ruto is not keen on reconciliation talks with KANU.

It is understood that the DP has been approached by several leaders from the south Rift region who are keen to ensure that he and KANU bosses are on good books in-order to ensure Kalenjin unity ahead of the 2017 General Elections.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is also said to be keen to ensure that Ruto is back on good terms with KANU boss Gideon Moi but the DP is said to not be keen.

” The DP is not keen on talks with KANU,” an aide close to him stated.

” He feels that he has the backing of the Kalenjin people despite the opposition and he is ready to take them on come the 2017 elections,” the aide added.

Already, religious leaders from the region have already tried to reach out to the DP to end the hostility between the two leaders and parties.

Also, MPs and Senators from the region have also been drawn into the move to unify the community.

Ruto is the undisputed leader of the Kalenjins but has faced increased opposition from the likes of Gideon Moi and his KANU battalion.

The spat turned ugly last month with the DP referring to Gideon Moi as an uncircumcised young boy.
