A thief has been apprehended and charged with stealing two establishments and then starting a shop to sell the stuff he stole.
Trustme Kauzani, the robber, looted two shops in Harare, Zimbabwe, before moving to Gweru and opening a shop to sell the stolen things.
The police tracked him down to his new location and apprehended him after a shootout as he attempted to elude capture. During the shootout, he was also shot in the leg.
On the 19th of December last year, he and an accomplice only named as Alvin allegedly stole Classic Pose Boutique in Harare.
The pair allegedly assaulted a security guard working in a nearby shop with a blank rifle and a catapult. They then broke into Classic Pose Boutique and took clothing worth $23,000. They fled the area after loading their stolen goods into their getaway vehicle.
In a separate incident, Kauzani and another accomplice, Gainmore Gamunorwa, broke into another business and took US$11 317 in clothing. Fungayi Muganhiri owns the shop, which is located in Harare’s Galaxy Mall. Officers pursued Trustme Kauzani to Gweru, where he was apprehended following a gunfight. He admitted to breaking into two establishments in Harare after being caught by police.
He also revealed that he had opened a shop and was selling the stolen items hoping to realise a profit. Kauzani led the police to his shop where some of the stolen clothes were recovered.
