More than 300,000 Zimbabweans have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccines, while an excess of 36,000 have received the second dose. President Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced.
Mnangagwa made the announcement during his visit to Kwekwe General hospital where he is expected to receive his second jab of COVID-19 vaccine.
“I am encouraged by the ongoing uptake of the vaccine by the targeted groups in both phases.” He said.
He also took the opportunity to respond to the outbreak of the pandemic at some boarding schools in the country saying, “Our investigations have revealed that, some of the infections affecting some boarding schools are a result of some learners going home over Easter in defiance of the government directive.”
Zimbabwe has thus far recorded 38,085 coronavirus cases, 35,072 recoveries and 1,556 deaths.
