Oliseh To Appear Before Lawmakers After Egypt Double Header

Sunday Oliseh, the immediate past head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles is expected to appear before the Sports Committee of Nigeria’s lawmaking chamber, the House of Representatives; after Nigeria’s double header with Egypt in African Cup on Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Local media have stated that the invitation by the lawmakers slated for Thursday March 17 but rescheduled to after the Egypt clash, is to allow Oliseh to explain into details the circumstances surrounding his shock resignation at a time the Super Eagles were preparing to play Egypt in African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Vanguard quotes a source at NASS as saying, “Oliseh has been invited by the committee on sports. He is to give his own side of his resignation story.”

“You know Oliseh, he will not hold back anything, he will give details of how some top officials made sure they frustrated him because they were not the ones who facilitated his appointment. You should expect him to shoot from the lips,” another source told Vanguard.

An official is quoted as explaining the decision to reschedule as follows; “The meeting has been moved so that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) could focus fully on the Egypt matches.”

Oliseh, a former Nigerian international, in a tweet on February 25, to announce his resignation cited contract violationa and unpaid benefits for his decision, claims the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has rejected.
After his resignation, Samson Siasia was almost immediately appointed by the NFF to take charge of the Super Eagles for the two Egypt fixtures.

Nigeria’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung is expected to be present during the hearing at the National Assembly, Oliseh disclosed that he had instructed his lawyers to withdraw an earlier suit he filed against the NFF, insisting that they put other ‘interests’ before the teams’ progress.
Nigeria are due to play Egypt – who they trail by two points – in Kaduna on March 25, with a return leg four days later in Cairo. Only one team can qualify from the group to play in the AFCON 2017 tournament to be stage in Gabon.
