Nollywood actor, Afeez Oyetoro better known as Saka, is popular for taking on comic and hilarious roles in the Nigerian movie industry. However, very few people know of the actor’s other vocation as a lecturer.
Saka who lectures drama at the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin in Lagos, has revealed that despite his fame as an actor, he doesn’t plan on quitting his job for acting.
In a recent interview with Correspondent, the comic actor whose petite statue has won him a lot of commendable roles, revealed that there is little difference between teaching and acting hence his decision to keep both his acting and teaching jobs.
In his words: “There is little or no difference between teaching and acting. I enjoy doing both. When you teach in the classroom, you are officially disseminating information. It is almost the same thing as what an actor does on stage or in a film. An actor entertains and at the same time, passes a message to his audience.
Explaining how his job as a lecturer affects his acting profession positively, the actor who just finished his tenure as the Head of the Department of Theatre Arts at the institution, had this to say:
“My work as a teacher of theatre arts enhances my practical methodology. When I go outside the classroom to act in a movie or on stage, I gain additional experience and bring back it to the classroom. Such experience enhances my teaching methodology.”
