On Her Upcoming 3rd Album
”I think I’m going to drop my third album this year. I dropped an EP ‘Sugar Cane’ last year and I think it’s time for another album. And I have a lot of songs and material that I don’t want to go to waste.
So, I think I’m going to drop an album this year. I am trying not to put too many featured artists on it because I did with my last album. I want to try and keep it just me and be more daring music wise, be bolder.” She said.
On her deal with Roc nation
In 2016, Tiwa Savage signed a management deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation company and she confirms that the deal is still on.
”My deal with Roc Nation is management, Mavin is still my record company that I am signed to, they work together, they complement each other pretty well.
Roc Nation is international, they get the whole Afrobeats movement, breaking into the international scene and they are one of the first people to invest in it.”
Her next single to feature Stefflon Don
Tiwa Savage also hinted that her next single will feature English rapper/singer Stefflon Don.
”She is amazing, we met, we had a great vibe, we did a record and I think that is going to be my next single.”
On New Wizkid Collaboration
Tiwa and Wizkid have become more of the industry’s ‘power couple’, as they are usually spotted together at a number of events, and have worked on several hit records including ‘Malo’ and she confirms that there is more collaborations to come.
”You can definitively expect new music from us [together]. We’ve recorded a lot and we’re just waiting for the right time (to release it).
I know he’s working on his album and I’ve just decided that I want to put out an album. So we’re just waiting for the right time to feed the public. Because whenever we put out music it gets so much attention.
But trust me, we have ‘Ma Lo’ x200 percent. We have great music that we’ve recorded that’s coming soon.”
On Ciara Sampling Her Song ‘Before Nko’ On ‘Freak Me’
Following the release of Ciara’s recent single, ‘Freak Me’ which features Tekno, there have been a lot of online controversy with many asking if the American superstar got the clearance to sample Tiwa’s record and she clears the air on the issue.
”I love the fact that she picked that song. It wasn’t one of the most popular songs from the ‘RED’ album. But it was definitely one of my favourites.
I love her version; and Tekno…I’m a huge fan of his. He definitely killed it. I think it’s gonna do really well.”, the singer concluded.
