Nigeria: Two Catholic Priests Arraigned In Anambra Over Alleged Fraud

Abuja – Two Catholic priests have been apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after they allegedly attempted to swindle people out of their money through a supposed cement deal.

According to a Punch report, Reverend Fathers Silas Nweke and E.C Obiorah, residing in Anambra, have been arraigned on 35 counts bordering on obtaining by false pretences.

The two men are alleged to have used the name of Holy Family Group of Companies to gain large sums of money through a cement deal some years ago.

Counsel for the first accused, Nwekem, urged the jurisdiction of the court to hear the matter, revealing that the case had been heard at the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court at different times.

The counsel for the second accused, Obiorah, disclosed that a judgement had been made at a state High Court regarding the matter.
