Nigeria: Bayelsa Assembly Re-Elects Benson As Speaker

The former Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Kombowei Benson has been re-elected as Speaker.

Benson, who was sacked by the Court of Appeal, got re-elected during the March 5 rerun poll.

Benson representing Southern Ijaw Constituency IV and Michael Ogbere for Ekeremor Constituency III were inaugurated as members on Monday, during the sitting presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Abraham Ingobere.

After they were sworn-in, the Deputy Leader of the House, Tonye Isenah representing Kolokuma-Opokuma constituency I, moved a motion to re-elect Benson as the Speaker.

The motion was seconded by Monday Bubou Obolo, Southern Ijaw Constituency II.
