Miss South Africa is around the corner and Mzansi is more than ready to crown a new Queen.
Former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, radio host Anele Mdoda, model Thando Hopa, actress Connie Ferguson and reigning Miss Universe Catriona Gray will be on the judging panel for this year’s Miss SA.
Media personality and businesswoman, Bonang Matheba, is once again set to host the Miss South Africa pageant.
On Monday, the new Miss SA crown was unveiled. The crown’s name is Ubuhle Bethungo Lenkosazana, which means “beauty of the rainbow” in isiZulu.
The name was chosen to celebrate women and the diversity present in South Africa.
World-renowned jewellery designer Johan Louw of Uwe Koetter jewellers in collaboration with American Swiss created the crown, which has a Ndebele pattern at its core.
The crown weighs more than half a kilogram and has 2586 zirconia stones.
Prizes for this year’s pageant are worth nearly R 3 million which include a cash prize of R 1m and a car and more. The top 16 will each receive R25,000.
Miss South Africa 2019 is set to take place on August 9 at the Sun Arena at Time Square, Pretoria.
