Lifetime has come under fire for their new film Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace, which includes a scene depicting Meghan Markle in a car crash.
According to the Independent, in a series of photos shared on Friday, Sydney Morton, who portrays Meghan in the film, is shown in a car accident reminiscent of the one that killed Princess Diana in 1997. The crash plays out as a dream sequence in the upcoming film, with Harry (Jordan Dean) awakening to find Meghan beside him.
Responding to the scene, social media users have labelled the film “tasteless”.
Lifetime movie stoops to new low of tastelessness. Movie opens with horrific car crash scene, and then Meghan Markle actress “dying” beneath overturned car pleading for help. Prince Harry pushes through mob to “save” her. Turns out to be “dream sequence”. Sounds more like porn. pic.twitter.com/TaHsoZ2aVZ

“Meghan Markle ‘lies dying’ after car crash at start of new TV film. Seriously like? What about the dignity towards Princess Diana? A little insensitive don’t you think? Allow Princess Diana to Rest In Peace,” another Twitter user wrote.
Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace is the third instalment in Lifetime’s royal movie franchise, following 2018’s Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance and 2019’s Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal.
The third film reveals “what really happened inside the palace” that drove Harry and Meghan to step back as senior royals and start a new life in Los Angeles and even includes scenes of that bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
