Lady Gaga has refuted rumours of romance between her and Bradley Cooper, insisting they were just acting at the Oscars.
The pair, who worked on A Star Is Born together, set tongues wagging on Sunday night with their passionate performance at the Academy Awards.
They sang their award-winning song from the film, Shallow, and got very cosy on stage together.
However, Gaga, 32, is adamant they were just putting on a show.
She rolled her eyes and said: “First of all, social media quite frankly is the toilet of the internet and what it has done to pop culture is abysmal.
“And people saw love, and guess what, that’s what we wanted you to see. This is a love song, the movie is a love story.”
She revealed Cooper, who directed the movie, also took charge of the Oscars performance.
Gaga added: “From a performance perspective it was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time.
“I mean, look, I’ve had my arm around Tony Bennett for three years touring the world. When you’re singing love songs, that’s what you want people to feel.”
When Kimmel jokingly asked her if she was having an affair with singer Bennett, 92, she help up her Oscar and replied: “No, I’m an artist and I guess we did a good job and, told ya.”
She added: “I don’t feel like I won, I feel like we won.”
Gaga split from her fiancé Christian Carino shortly before the Oscars, while Cooper has a daughter with his model partner Irina Shayk.
