The Pioneer Kenyan rapper Chris Kantai aka Kantai, who passed away on Wednesday, will be buried this Friday at his family’s home in Kangawa, Ngong.
Kantai who was battling acute peptic ulcers, according to his family, was in hospital for two days.
Prior to his death Kantai, 40, made waves in the Kenyan rap scene with the hit single Kantada, among many others.
This saw him get recognition from around the continent, establishing himself as one of the best rappers.
Kantai had been battling alcoholism for long and was said to be clean when he made his comeback with the ‘Ting Badi Malo’ hit alongside Khaligraph Jones in 2016.
Not long after, reports began to circulate that he had sunk back into alcoholism. In his career he bagged numerous awards in the Chaguo La Teeniez Awards, which were popular in the early 2000’s.
Away from the limelight and his troubles with alcohol Kantai was a family man and is survived by a wife and one child.
