The two have been nominated in the category at the Africa Entertainment Awards alongside comedy greats such as Nigeria’s Basketmouth and Uganda’s Patrick Salvador.
Top Kenyan comedians Eric Omondi and Chipukeezy are to battle it out in the USA after they were nominated for the award of Best Comedian.
Sources reveal that the two friends will not only compete against each other for the award but also host the gala.
The ecstatic duo took to social media to drum up support from their fans.
“On to the next one. So next week I’ll be hosting the fourth annual African entertainment awards in New York… I’ve also been nominated for best African comedian. Please click the link on my bio to vote… Tulisema aibu ya ku host na kutoshinda hatutaki,” posted Omondi.
While an excited Chipukeezy posted, “We are bringing this home!! Link on my bio to vote for me for as the best comedian on the African Entertainment Awards 2018 to be held in New Jersey on 20th October.”
Other Kenyan nominees include Victoria Kimani for the ‘Female Artist of the Year’ category. She is up against Tiwa Savage, Simi, Selmor Mtukudzi, Akothee, Vanessa Mdee, Chidinma, Nandy and Yemi Alade.
Sauti Sol has also bagged a nomination in the ‘Best Collabo’ category for their song Melanin with Patoranking.
In the ‘Best DJ’ category, Kenyan flag will be hosted high by DJ Crème de la Crème, Dj Kassava, Dj Maphorisa, Dj Tunez and Dj Chick.
