Kenyan artist, Wilson Abubakar Radido aka as Willy Paul is walking a tightrope after dropping a new single titled Alkaida.
Fans of the singer have reacted to his new jam that drags a controversial title, a Swahili derivative of Al-Qaeda – a terrorist group founded by Osama bin Laden.
According to some of his followers, the beat of the song has been lifted from Tanzanian singer Nandy’s song “Aibu” which was released a few months ago.
Others poured cold water on the lyrics saying they border the secular world so much so for an artist who made his name in the gospel scene.
To others, however, the new tune by the ‘Sikireti’ maker was on point, catchy, a banger with flair and the right track for the versatile singer.
Released two days ago, the song has already garnered over 130,000 views. Impressive.
Despite the criticism, Willy Paul took to social media to deliver a message to his detractors.
“To the people who blocked my collabo with @wizkidayo . Listen to this stanza!! Unajaribu funga njia zangu za Africa, Africa mama… unasahau wewe sio Mungu baba. Umekwama plan A, niko plan B… Mungu amefungua njia ata na Cardi B!!! #ALKAIDA link in bio. Let’s show some love,” he posted alongside a snippet from his new song.
