Kenya: Herdsman Stabs Colleague During Meeting On Grazing Areas

A herdsman has been seriously injured after he was stabbed on his shoulder by his colleague at Bassa area in Merti Isiolo County.

Abdi Roba, 32, was attacked during a meeting that had been convened by a grazing committee in the area to deliberate on grazing areas following continued drought.

The herders disagreed among themselves and engaged in a confrontation.

The attacker pulled out his dagger and stabbed Roba who started bleeding profusely.

The meeting had been convened to discuss the mounting tension between Borana and Somali herders in the area over sharing of water and pasture resources.

The victim was taken to Merti sub-county hospital.
