After months of speculation, rapper Emtee is finally clearing the air in regards to his position at record label Ambitiouz Entertainment.
Fans of the rapper have been wondering for months if he would be parting ways with his record label after he hinted on social media that an exit could be in the pipeline.
On Wednesday, Emtee took to Instagram to release a statement setting the “record straight”.
“Following a long and in-depth reflection on my career as an artist, where I am now and where I see myself in the next few years, I have made a decision that the time has come for me to now part ways with Ambitious Entertainment.”
The We Up hitmaker explained, “this is a decision I did not make lightly and without due consideration.”
Ambitiouz and Emtee have been in the media over the alleged split, with reports that the label had repossessed his house and cars, which he denied in an interview with TshisaLive.
In his statement, Emtee explains that he sought legal advice on his contractual obligations to the label before making the tough decision as he wanted the split to be “swift and amicable”.
“After much back and forth between my attorneys and Ambitious Entertainment, my attorneys confirmed that there was legally no reason why I could not leave Ambitious Entertainment to pursue my career as I saw fit.
“I accordingly proceeded to do precisely that, on Thursday 08 August 2019.”
Ambitiouz has not said anything publicly as of yet on the matter. Emtee signed to Ambitiouz in 2015.
