Ghana: What We Need Event Centres Not a Cathedral – Abeiku Santana

The Celebrated and multiple award-winning Ghanaian broadcast journalist, Abeiku Santana asks President Nana Akufo-Addo to channel resources to the construction of event centres rather than a cathedral.

President Akufo-Addo announced his decision to build a massive 5000 seat national cathedral in the center of Accra earlier last year and some applauded the decision whiles others are against it.

In an exclusive interview, the CEO of Kaya Tours Ghana, Abeiku Santana explained that, event employs different category of people like musicians, bloggers, makeup artist, light and stage technicians, DJs, presenters, producers, decorators, etc, hence providing event centres will boost the creative industry as well as create jobs.

Also, referred to as Mr.Tourism, Abeiku Santana added that ” the country needs event centres to host several huge social events at ago such that we can invite foreigners , that is what happens in Benin”…he stated.

“The cathedral is limited for only church events, but most of the youth graduating from schools are doing music and not pastoring, we all go to church, and we love God, but we need event centres not a cathedral”….he concluded.
