French DJ Martin Solveig Sparks Outrage After Asking Ballon d’Or Female Winner to Twerk on Stage

French DJ Martin Solveig on Monday night, December 4, sparked social media outrage after asking Norway international Ada Hegerberg to dance on stage moments after being crowned the winner of the female Ballon d’Or award.

Solveig invited Ada on stage in Paris to receive her Golden Ball before asking her to twerk.

Upon lifting the prestigious award, Ada, who plays for the French side, Lyon, addressed the star-studded crowd, challenging young women to believe in themselves.

“I want to ask every young woman to believe in themselves,” she said.

According to reports, the Norway international went to leave the stage after her address.

However, before she could do so, Solveig asked her whether she would like to twerk to which she quickly declined.

Amid all these, the camera panned to Paris Saint-Germain star, Kylian Mbappe, who looked utterly shocked to the DJ’s bizarre request.

Solveig’s move further elicited reactions on social media, with fans hitting out at the strange request.

Solveig later tendered his apology via Twitter saying: “Sincere apologies to the one I may have offended. My point was: I don’t invite women to twerk but dance on a Sinatra song. Watch the full sequence People who have followed me for 20 years know how respectful I am especially with women”.
