Ghana: Court Imprison 3 Robbers 180 Years

The Koforidua Circuit Court A has condemned three armed robbers who have been threatening occupants of Koforidua and its environs to 60 years detainment each with hard work.

The court managed by Mrs Janet Animako Maafo found the three, Samuel Kwame Asare otherwise known as Boys Abre, Kofi Yakubu pseudonym Cobra and Samuel Berfi Appiah false name Oscar blameworthy of burglary.

The convicts were captured by the Eastern Regional Police Command in February, this year and were accused of theft. The three were indicted on Monday, June 11, 2018.

The court also ordered the convicts to pay GH¢66,000 being the cost of a Toyota Camry they snatched from the complainant and GH¢5,500 being the costs of an Apple beat pill speaker, a HP Laptop and one iPhone belonging to the complainant.

Earlier sentence
It was the second time in less than eight hours that the three robbers were being sentenced by the same court.

The same court had earlier slapped the convicts with a 20-year jail term with hard labour, hence increasing their total jail term to 60 years with hard labor.

A police report indicated that the robbers held their victims hostage after snatching their vehicles and putting them in the car boot.
