After recent revelations by Chris Mutsvangwa that Oppah Muchinguri made First Lady Grace Mugabe cry during a Politburo meeting, the two women have been on each others throats again. CONTINUE READING BELOW MUTSVANGWA’S PREVIOUS COMMENT
“Let me tell you something that I heard and I was in the politburo, and today I am a historian like the President .There is a tiff between Oppah Muchinguri, the honorable minister and the first lady. Oppah gets the upper hand and I want to tell you, she is a comrade and comrades know their stuff and obviously she was not going to take any nonsense and she delivered it back,” said Mutsvangwa.
“Then somebody ended up in tears and she appealed to the Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, not to her husband saying can you please protect me, and what comes out of her mouth? Vice President all the war veteran ladies do not like me, because I took a man who was the best on the war front during the liberation struggle who they all wanted and failed to lure,” he said.
Muchinguri took sides with former Labour Minister Prisca Mupfumira who has not taken being fired from President Robert Mugabe’s Cabinet lying down, confronting his wife Grace over the matter during the last Politburo meeting.
Mupfumira is reported to have interjected while Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa was responding to Professor Jonathan Moyo’s damning report tabled against him in the politburo.
While Mupfumira was speaking, Water and Climate minister Oppah Muchinguri reportedly interjected, saying she had to relinquish her post because the women whom Grace called “the golden ladies” persuaded her to do so despite her having the people’s mandate.
The sources said Grace fought in Moyo’s corner, saying at least the Higher and Tertiary Education minister accepted where he has made mistakes and apologises unlike most of the politburo members who did not.
“Grace told Mupfumira that she was dropped from cabinet because there were reports that funds were being abused at the National Social Security Authority and not because of Zanu PF infighting. She said this after Mugabe pointed out that her being dropped was because of other matters.”
