CORD leader Raila Odinga has blamed the Jubilee Coalition for the failure to pass the much vaunted Gender Bill.
The Bill seeking to change the Constitution and implement the gender principle failed to get the required support of 233 MPs to pass the second reading.
The vote was 178-16, with five abstaining.
Raila, speaking after the vote said that the Jubilee Coalition had worked hard to derail the passing of the Bill.
” The Jubilee Coalition has sabotaged the vote by ordering the Speaker and MPs to kill the vote,” he said.
The CORD leader had earlier called on MPs in his coalition to vote positively for the bill or face disciplinary action.
The first vote on the same last week also flopped after a number of MPs chose to either vote against or abstain from the vote altogether.
President Uhuru Kenyatta had also called on MPs to support the bill which would have seen gender balance in government and private business made a must.
