UGANDA – Drama broke out in Parliament on Tuesday afternoon when MPs engaged in a physical fight moments after Speaker Rebecca Kadaga permitted the Age Limit bill to be tabled on the floor of the house.
It all started when Kiira municipality MP Ssemujju Nganda accused junior water minister Ronald Kibuule of threatening him with death in parliament.
MP Ssemujju then asked the Speaker to instruct that all MPs be searched, alleging that Kibuule and others had carried guns into the house.
When the speaker declined to give an order to have MPs searched, Ssemujju and other MPs that are opposed to age limit removal forcefully moved to search Kibuule, resulting into a fist fight from both sides.
By publication time, Speaker Kadaga had ordered the Sergeant at Arms to search all MPs for fire arms and calm had restored in the house.
