A trailer from the latest Jackie Chan action thriller, “The Foreigner” has been unveiled.
The English-language film is an adaption of the novel “The Chinaman” by Stephen Leather.
“The Foreigner” tells the story of a London businessman Guan Yuming (Chan), whose long-buried past erupts in a revenge-fueled vendetta when the only person left for him to love – his teenage daughter – is taken from him in a senseless act of politically-motivated terrorism. In his relentless search for the identity of the terrorists, Guan is forced into a cat-and-mouse conflict with a British government official (Pierce Brosnan), whose own past may hold clues to the identities of the elusive killers.
The British-Chinese co-production also stars Liu Tao, Charlie Murphy, Orla Brady, and Katie Leung.
The film is directed by Martin Campbell and produced by Chan, Wayne Marc Godfrey, Arthur Sarkissian, Qi Jian Hong, Claire Kupchak, Scott Lumpkin, Jamie Marshall, and Cathy Schulman.
“The Foreigner” is expected to bring in a massive box office when it opens in China on September 30, thanks to Chan’s enormous popularity there. It hits US theaters on October 13.
