“If I Were An Engineer, I’m Sure That I Would Have Gone Very Far By Now” – Nigerian Singer, Kiss Daniel Reveals

Nigerian singer Kiss Daniel, born Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, proves there is so much more to him than the cute face you see on your screen. He is also an engineer by profession…well..at least that’s what he studied in college.

The award-winning artiste started his music career professionally in 2013 after he completed his 5 year course in Water Engineering at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. While still at the university, he decided to pursue music as a career alongside his studies.

After graduating, he came across G-Worldwide Entertainment CEO, Emperor Geezy, and after being signed to the label, he recorded his first official single ” Shoye” in May 2014. In the same year he released his second single “Woju”, a song which spent eleven weeks straight on the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10, including number six weeks at the number 0ne spot.

Kiss Daniel then released his third follow up single “Laye” in 2015 and by then, he was sure he wanted to sacrifice his degree for music as his profession.

Since then, he has dropped hits like Mama, Kiss Daniel, Good-time among others.

Two years down the line, Daniel believes he could have been bigger than he currently is if he didn’t choose his current career.

“I often say that dropping engineering for music is the greatest sacrifice I have ever made for my career,” the singer told Punch News.

“That’s because I studied water engineering for five years and I graduated with a good result.

“Many of my mates that we left school together are doing very well now, and sometimes, I feel bad that I’m not practicing the profession that I devoted a lot of time and effort to study.

Despite this, Daniel insisted that doing music comes naturally to him and as a result he has no regret that he picked it over a white collar job.

“If I was a practicing engineer, I’m sure that I would have gone very far by now. On the flip side though, I enjoy what I’m doing and I have never pictured myself doing a 9-5 job.

“Making music comes naturally to me and it makes me happy, so I have no regrets.”
