Scandal! South African actor Mbulelo Ndlazilwana was arrested yesterday at a brothel in Springs, east of Johannesburg, during a sting operation by the police, reports fromantic Sout Africa say.
When the news broke yesterday, TimesLive reported that the then unnamed actor was arrested alongside 16 others consisting of 6 men and 11 women — aged between 19 and 43 years old.
ENCA added that the arrest follows a different bust at a brothel in same area, where 5 teenage girls were allegedly held as sex slaves.
Following yesterdays bust, the actor’s name was withheld from the press since he had yet to be arraigned in court. Now, top blogger Phil Mphela has revealed him to be Mbulelo Ndlazilwana, who stars in the country’s famous TV series, Scandal!
Speaking with African Reporter, the South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Capt Kay Makhubela said the sting operation was carried out after a 25-year-old woman escaped from the house and alerted the police.
A yet-to-be-named Nigerian man reportedly was among the arrested and is said to be ‘claiming’ money from the women and the actor.
“A 25-year-old woman, who had managed to escape from the house, reported the sex den to the police on Wednesday,” Makhubela said. “The woman claims she was held in the house against her will and fears for her life.”
However, the police spokesperson added that it is still unclear if the Nigerian is the mind behind the brothel. “We confiscated a large amount of male and female condoms,” he said. “The group was charged with human trafficking and sexual exploitation.”
