OKENE BOMB FACTORY UPDATE: LAWMAKER URGES CAUTION

FOLLOWING the uncovering of bomb factory in Okene, the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman, has urged the people in the area to remain calm, but vigilant.

The senator made the remark while reacting to the car explosion believed to have been improvised explosive devices, in a car along the Okene-Obehira area on Sunday.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Michael Jegede, the lawmaker, who was apparently alarmed at the development, while condemning the spate of explosions from such improvised explosive devices across the troubled states and the seeming spread, called on the people in Kogi Central Senatorial District and Nigerians as a whole, to remain prayerful, while security agents conduct further investigation to unravel and redress the situation.

He commended the security agents for apprehending one of the suspects, and urged them to ensure that such arrest yield breakthrough.

“As we thank God that no life was lost in the car explosion, we equally commend the security agents for the arrest of one of the suspects.

“I urge my people to remain calm and vigilant as they carry on with their normal daily activities. Since the security agents have given a glimmer of hope with the arrest made, we are relying on them to further strive to unravel all that need to be unraveled.

“Government should also step up its renewed efforts toward promoting dialogue, with a view to bringing peace to the troubled states across the country.”

I am aware that high-level discussions are underway to ensure that peace is attained in the country.”
