Embattled lawmaker Farouk Lawan was released on bail yesterday after being in police custody at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, for two days. He was released on the condition that he produces the alleged $620000 bribe he received before the end of next week he was also asked to report back to the police on Monday 18th June 2012. His international passport was also seized by police to prevent him from traveling out.
Farouk aide said Lawan’s legal team had been briefed to file a law suit against the federal government, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mohammed Bello Adoke and Inspector General of Police Mohammed Dikko Abubakar for violating the fundamental human right of the legislator by detaining him for more than 24 hours.
