The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pensions Reform Task Force, Mr Abdurasheed Maina, has denied ever bribing any Senator as alleged in some newspaper reports.
This clarification was made by Maina on Thursday while shedding light on the activities of the Task Force.
He stated that looted funds recovered by his panel from the public officers now amounted to N182 billion as against N151 billion earlier reported.
On Wednesday, the panel had disclosed that N74 billion of the N151 billion loot that it had recovered had been transferred into the 2012 budget funding.
Maina also declared that there was no time the team attempted to bribe the Senate
Committee on Establishment because “there
was simply no reason to do so.”
On his reaction to a statement credited to the
Senate Committee chair by some national
dailies that the task force attempted to bribe
his members, Maina insisted: “It never happened because there was no basis for it.”
He disclosed that the Task Force had worked in unison with the Senate Committee, asserting that all the information on the sleaze in the pension scheme which the Senate had was actually given to it by the Task Force.
